Adult ADHD Therapy in Portland

ADHD has been part of our cultural lexicon for decades, and like many mental health diagnoses, just about everyone seems to have an opinion about it. Some people think ADHD medication is overprescribed. Some say ADHD is a superpower. Others say everyone has a little ADHD. In the age of AI and TikTok therapists, it can be hard to know who and what to believe.

Whether you were diagnosed with ADHD in childhood or more recently, you may never have received the support you need to thrive. Maybe you’ve tried medication, therapy, planners, reminders, or new routines. Some things may have helped for a while, but eventually you may find that you’ve fallen back into familiar patterns of self-criticism, stress, and conflict. Self-esteem suffers each time this cycle repeats. If addiction is part of your experience, even the things that once offered relief can become an additional source of shame and stress.

how i work

I specialize in working with neurodivergent adults and teens, with a focus on ADHD and AuDHD.

Executive function involves many different abilities, and each person’s needs are different. Do you forget what you set out to do, struggle to begin, or find it hard to stop doing something else? What happens when you become frustrated or overwhelmed? We’ll get specific about where you get stuck, what helps when things go well, and which skills and supports could help you follow through.

But treating ADHD means more than learning how to get things done. We also work on what years of struggling have led you to believe about yourself and how those struggles have affected your relationships.

Your aptitudes matter as much as the places where you tend to struggle. You may have spent years trying to meet expectations without recognizing the value of what comes naturally to you. Understanding your own mind can create possibilities you haven’t had the chance to consider, and help you put your abilities to work in building the life you want.

I’m direct, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I work at your pace and take an active role in our sessions. I will ask questions, share what I notice, and help us stay focused on what matters to you.
